Time & Location

09 May 2026, 9:30 am – 11:00 am

Sutherland Library Meeting Room, 30/36 Belmont St, Sutherland NSW 2232, Australia

About the event

Do you want more people to care about what you care about? The more people you can emotionally connect with, the more people will be inspired to reflect, commit, volunteer or take action. A good story has the power to change the world.

Stories allow us to express our values. Not as abstract principles, but as a lived experience. They have the power to move others too by accessing their own emotions and values. We have to tell stories that evoke emotions like anger, urgency, solidarity and hope. If we’re successful in this we can engage and mobilise people to take action.

At this practical workshop you will learn how to:

  • connect your personal experiences to the big issues you care about,

  • communicate with relatability and credibility to build trust with an audience,

  • inspire others to care—and act.

Sutherland Shire Reconciliation acknowledges the Dharawal language speaking people of the Gweagal and Norongerragal clans, as the traditional custodians of the lands within the Sutherland Shire. We are grateful for their immemorial care of the lands and waterways on which we live and work.
