Rainbow Serpent Picnic! Sunday 8th December 10am - 1.30pm, Burnum Burnum reserve, Woronora.



We invite you to join us for a day of cultural enrichment at our annual Rainbow Serpent Picnic, set by the Woronora River and the Bush at Burnum Burnum Reserve. Bring your family and friends together and immerse yourself in a day of culture.


This will be enjoyable for people of all ages, from the young to the old.

Be sure to arrive early and bring your own picnic snacks, lunch, beverages, and a rug or chairs.

Think about wearing bright-coloured attire that reflects The Rainbow Serpent.


Please be aware that Burnum Burnum Reserve offers parking and is completely accessible.

Everyone is welcome.


from 10am – 1.30pm

• 10am be Welcomed to Country by Aunty Dolly

• Watch a Dharawal Dancing group with Uncle Pete, Katie and family

• Sing along with Golden Guitar winner Uncle Col and multi-award-winning artist Charley Boyter

• Go on a cultural bush tucker and medicines walk with Graham Avery

• Weave with Shalah and braid with Jan 

• Sip some native tea and taste scones made with native ingredients.

• Listen up with Storytelling by UnclePete

• Select some free native plant tube stock to take home and plant


Treat yourself or someone special with items from some of the cultural stalls


Artist Lyle Ah Sam at SSR Reconciliation Picnic

Caressa Designs “Caressa is passionate about sharing culture through her range of children’s fashion ensuring the world’s oldest living culture continues to thrive in modern times.”

At 1pm we have an extra special event. “Barayagal Choir.”

Barayagal is a community choir, hosted by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Sydney University.

The Choir is a collective of First Nations people, the community of Redfern and Sydney University that gather to sing songs of culture and stories.


Nardi Simpson, a Yuwaalaraay songwriter, serves as the remarkable Choirmaster of Barayagal, collaborating with Kevin Hunt, a Jazz musician of the year awardee in 1998 and an ARIA nominee.
