Sutherland Shire NAIDOC Week Community Festival

ree

The Sutherland Shire NAIDOC Week Community Festival on Thursday 10th July in Gunnamatta Park in Cronulla was a great opportunity for the local community to celebrate and learn more about Aboriginal Culture from local organisations and groups.

For protection from the high winds, the SSR stall was reallocated to a space inside the Gunnamatta Pavilion beside the Reptile Exhibition, which was a great attraction for families. There were many opportunities to have conversations with parents and grandparents - it is estimated that we co-created 150 threaded wrist bands with their children and grandchildren!

Many who came to say hi were interested in the free NSW Language Maps, and we sold the first 27 copies of our newly minted 3rd Edition of the Dharawal Picture Dictionary.  Special thanks to ANSTO for their sponsorship and support for this edition.

Sutherland Shire Reconciliation acknowledges the Dharawal language speaking people of the Gweagal and Norongerragal clans, as the traditional custodians of the lands within the Sutherland Shire. We are grateful for their immemorial care of the lands and waterways on which we live and work.
