HAPPY NAIDOC!

Happy NAIDOC!

Today was a great way to start NAIDOC week, doing what we do best, promoting reconciliation.

Aunty Dolly is pictured here handing over NAIDOC posters for display in Hazelhurst Arts Centre, Gymea, to Sebastian, Director of the gallery.

They are standing in front of a beautiful artwork currently on display by Rhoda Tjitayi. Rhoda paints “her grandmother's story, the ancestral creation story Piltati Tjukurpa”.

And because reconciliation never rests, this was followed by a long conversation over a cuppa on local ways to advance healing and unity, contributing to reconciliation for our nation.

Happy NAIDOC everyone, enjoy the celebrations.

Sutherland Shire Reconciliation acknowledges the Dharawal language speaking people of the Gweagal and Norongerragal clans, as the traditional custodians of the lands within the Sutherland Shire. We are grateful for their immemorial care of the lands and waterways on which we live and work.
